OneLight Workshop till midnite!

It was fun to participate in the Phoenix OneLight Workshop! Inverse Square Law is the magic bullet for this workshop. Zack from UsedFilm did a great job with the his One Light setup and we all have a blast testing different lighting setup. It was great to meet other photographers like Rob, Ray, Michelle, Lisa, Karey, Laura and Melissa. You can see the slideshow of these pictures.

Melissa has arranged two models to help us in the workshop. Without them we can't really practice the lighting theory! The first model is Liene. She is indeed a wedding planner. Her company is Blue Orchid Designs and she has a promo going on right now so you might want to make sure you check her BLOG for the info. Liene was very easy to work and she did a lot of spinning in front of the cameras without any complain!!! The other model Jennifer actually is the publisher for Destination I DO Wedding Magazine! She was so natural in front of the camera and I really enjoyed working with her.

Liene has a great smile!

I like the mood of this picture!

So natural!

Jennifer, we're all excited about this shot!

Here are Karey, Rob and Lisa I met in the class. They are very friendly and professional. Karey is a wedding photographer in California and you got to check out her blog for her wonderful wedding pictures.

Getting ready for the One Light Workshop

It's here finally. Just come back from the One Light Mixer in Melissa's house. It's fun to meet Zack and some fellow photographers from the valley and also photographers from Iowa, Maine and Florida. I'll be taking tomorrow's workshop by Zack and we'll learn a lot about lighting. Looking forward to do it and thanks again for Melissa's hosting. See me behind Zack:)

GPCCC 25th Anniversary

It was a touching night in GPCCC. Ex-pastors of GPCCC come to share their memorials and encouragement to us. This is the weekend to celebration the 25th anniversary of this church. By counting all the blessing to our church in all these year, God has really blessed this church.

** Update: Picnic slideshow is ready!

Thanks for the patchwork sisters to prepare the delicious desserts!!!

Find Your Voice

Came across this interesting article in BF Stop by Cameron Ingalls about finding your voice for new photographers. There are great advices from some talented photographers. The key is to show the passion of the photographers. Creativity is a lot more important than what gears do you get. I like this quote:

‘A typewriter never wrote a great novel any more than a camera took a great picture.’ ~Someone Smart

It's a great reminder from beginner photographers to professional photographers in the area of photojournalism.

Grandma and grandson

After staying with us for 3 months, my mom returns to Hong Kong today. During past three months, special bonding is created between her and my son Brian. It is probably due to the face that she has spent a lot of time with Brian. Also, the delicious food she made is well accepted by Brian. My mom usually becomes very stiff in front of the camera. I captured this shot through the mirror inside the bathroom so they didn't notice the camera. I think it is a wonderful capture of Grandma and grandson interaction.
